Wyrd Ways Rock Show 2.03

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

After last week's show, I thought I'd go a bit Heavier this time out. So for those of you who like a bit more Thrash and Death Metal in your auditory diet, there's a little more for you to get your teeth into.

That doesn't mean the fans of Hard Rock and Power Metal are left high and dry, though. There's definitely a few moments for you in there, too. Personal picks for this week among the new stuff include Thrasherwolf, Defecto and Schwarzer Engel. This week's Spotlight band are also something of a personal favourite, having seen them absolutely steal the show when supporting Orange Goblin at the original Bradford Rios many moons ago and again at the Damnation Festival in Leeds a few years later.

As usual, if you want to get in touch to ask for a song or contribute to Russian Roulette or suggest a band for Covered or Spotlight, you can talk to me via the Contact page at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com, on Twitter @wyrdwaysrock or on Facebook . If you become a Patreon Subscriber you also get access to the Discord, you get the show at higher sound quality and earlier than anyone else AS WELL AS several exclusive subscriber-only bonus shows such as The Thrash Hour, The Power Hour and The Trad Metal Meltdown which are all the ideal length for your workout, commute or whatever else you need an concentrated burst of PROPER HEAVY METAL to get you through.

Be impure! Be vigilant! Misbehave!

For surprise, for Sh don't freak out, teriou somehow and listen to the weird ways rock show stars, for that side starts are breaks, riding on the walls away that drove the silence of the walk below the face. That side the rules. Hello and welcome to the weird ways rock show. All...

...we've got pocket. It's a bit heavier than last weeks because I've kind of put a bit more thrash and a bit of well, death and black metal in there, because I noticed it was getting a bit hard rock heavy last week and I think like these bit heavier. So yeah, I've, as you might have noticed, from that rockney track, which was cataclysm. We've truckled underneath the scars from their new album, which is due out. Let these mouth about twenty fifth I think now, just to sort of complete light and actually to lull you into a bit of a false sense of security, and I've got the teeth fucking let's up a bit of modern start us off, shall we? This is royal blue with bat to sweet. Hi Everyone,...

...just take the wax out of your ears. This is Vila from poison black and you're listening to weird ways rock show. Change the channel and I come and fuck your mother. Do you feel steps at the door? The smell lies, dark and SIP? Do you aim for the shadow? Do you feel infected? Let's fights where? Do you know how the trusty? You know? Then everybody's gone. It's life. The doctor fit you. So yeah, royal bloom, not bad. That was it. I I'm...

...not a huge fun and Havana, but I've got me. I quite like those guys. I mean you look at Navana, honest right, cards on the table here. Kurt cobain was overrated as a guitar player. Yeah, okay, Rhythm Guitar Player, not so bad, not a bad lyricist, but when you compare never mind to the stuff and the stuff that came after it and stuff became came before it, yeah, he was becoming a bit of a spent force. To be absolutely honest, Dave, grow lot respect for the guy, love the way you interact with these fans and all that, and just not a big fan of his music and phoon fighters and yeah, it's like, yeah, it kind of glosses over me and yeah, it's all right, but be inoffensive really and Oh my fucking God, Christ Nov Selic, what and no bendy turned out to be. I I did read something on I could have been twitter that. Yeah, Kurt Cobaine shot the wrong man, shot the wrong member of NAVANA. Yeah, and that was followed by changing the subject. That was followed by a re recorded version of bullet ride from the twenty anniversary addition of claymnswer. Yes, in flames brought out clay man in one thousand nine hundred and nineteen. It's not that old, in two thousand, which is now twenty years ago. How the fuck did that happen? Right, let's get brutal. INCANTATION black fathoms fire. Its crazy. This is days rock show with three thousand and forty nine...

...and side on. Stay tuned. Word the way the hours that. Then I incantation black fathoms fire, followed by scored a Torah with the flesh that hits. Now I do love a bit of that old sort of not old actually. That stuff brand new, but black and death metal. It's just really kind of gets the blood pumping. Done it all right. I think...

...it's time took it out, getting blood pumping in. That covered now. The track being covered is well, it's a bit of a classic. I love this song and it doesn't matter what really who's doing it, because it's always a goodie. It's one of those songs where it doesn't matter who covers it always turns out well. Now the band doing the cover are well back in. What would it have been? Let me to late, s entirely Shure, but yeah, me to late s when the whole thrash boom thing was kicking off in and the Summer School Bay area. Rob Flynn, Phill Demil few others were in a band together that B and eventually split up and went their separate ways and several of them went on to form machine head. Now this particular banderback. Obviously Rob Flynne is still in machine head, but Phil Demil, he's part of the reconstituted violence. So what you're going to be hearing is violence doing a very, very creditable queen. Fact, my wife liked it, and she does. It's been to like all Veri especially not all of punk stuff. Yeah, so this is violence doing the cover of the dead Kennedy's California Uber Auris. I have come all right. This...

...is Tom Gabriel Warrior, formerly of Hell Armor and Kelly Frost. Now, of course, of TRYPTICON. You listening to weird rays rock show, fantastically title show, Walter Rush U see rust. That's all I got, my...

God, God, God, God, you all right, more summarize. Got No way out. Look at thanks. I will break you. Allow your gods are day to walk up still by fire. That's all you'll get. No drag your drab first. Say All your world why you're like your fall. No worry, look at tell your Sak will break. Your gods are walks. I got my God'll, God, Damn Your Wall. That's as like your bad job. You'll drag your grapery all your wild desert. Why, y'all? Light your fault into your eyes. I never taking all...

...around me skin. I'm wearing the floor all around me, on the ground, saying needs in your mind you you die within the lady, Sir, all here my screen of brave. Well with it, the way my face living. Say when you will be nothing. You're gray D Yid d see...

...what I mean about that being a good version. So yeah, California Uber allus original by the day of Kennedy's redone by violence. And that is their new single, which came out. I don't even know if he's out yet, but it's I first started hearing it about a week or so ago. I was followed by a whole load of new stuff from literally all of the world. Your bullet belt with blade on the fire, and they're from New Zealand, tolk us, who are from Mexico, with devastation by greed, and then a London based band called Thrush, your wolf with Vortex, and yeah, that was proper old school on it. Hey, Hey, now then, shall we shine the spotlight on a band then? Now, I'm not making any bones about this, but this particular band are one of my all time favorites. I've seen them blood stock, I've seen them at let's see, where was it was Leeds University, are at damnation. And the first time I actually clapped eyes on them was at the late lamented Bradford reals, you know, the old original site, and they absolutely wiped orange gobbling off the stage. Who Was it? Cat Remember, wouldn't who? What? Witchcraft? Witchcraft opened, followed by Grand Magus and then orange gobbling came on to basically try and top that and to my mind, I've got to say it, they didn't manage it. And we know good Orange Gobblin our and I've seen orange gobbling since so of on in various places. And Yeah, they absolutely kill live but that night they might have killed, but grand eggs did it more and that's kind of where I got into them. And then I've met I've interviewed him a couple of times, and just an amazing, brilliant, proper heavy metal band and just gieb's voice completely unsung, quite possibly one of the best singers in heavy metal, full stop. I I you listen to them, you're going to hear three songs and just the tone power. I mean he's up there with deer, definitely, you know. In fact, look, I'll stop rhapsodizing a bottom and play some of the stuff. This is Grand Magus and the first one you're going to hear is called like the or strikes the water. That's going to be followed by summer solstice, which has got one of the greatest riffs of all time, and then, just to round it off, from last year's wolf got album, the title track. Check these guys out, you'll love them and sell the food. You just want move. You turn away when you think you can pressure. The safest way you wash your hands in your piety, the wind on a massive when night f when the truth. Hello, this is up...

...from ground. Magus, were MEGAS and you're listening to weird ways rook show. Join. Yes, you drink from the release yourself. The change of fire, fire behind you will make naked bure, fire, fire behind fire,...

...fire, fire, fire. Now it's like a thing. As I said the top of this segment, that was Grand Magus with light, the your strikes, the water, summer, solstice and Wolf God. And that was this week spotlight. and well, the whole idea of spot like really is to shine light on a band that you might not have heard of. Probably abundance been knocking about for a while and I don't feel they're getting enough...

...love. So this feature and when to give them some that aren't you, I mean Hell, if you've got any ideas about any bands you want putting in the spotlight, just get in touch. Oh Yeah, bit of tried metal band called forged in black, who have been around for about a decade. In fact, they've just literally brought out an album which celebrates their turn anniversary, and this is the opening track from it. It's called forged in black, or b the late of thesis songs. Now you'll bring us...

Maybe that way, as they said, the light like a white side of a friend, views way create are well, you've probably started to pick up off these two two means by now. Yeah, it's Russian Roulette and Oh yeah, better back in outre leven before I started playing that theme tune. You heard defector with all you. That was the Danish heavy metal band, and they never blade with eyes of the world and the Italian rush. Now Russian Roulette. The whole idea behind this feature is you never know what you're gonna get, because I throw it open to you, guys, and tell me three songs that you want to hear, and that's exactly what steps do we go? Never fight. I...

...was bored soul. I will not open my life as boy. Yo, those who Wisti is leave me Drus, not for me my own class.
