Wyrd Ways Rock Show 2.04
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
I know I say this pretty much every time, but there's a whole load of new stuff in this latest edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show. You have my cast iron guarantee you will hear something in this show that you've never heard before. You may even discover your new favourite band. There's certainly enough candidates. Before I started compiling the playlist even I'd never heard seventeen of these songs before.
Not only is there an absolute f*ck-tonne of new stuff, there's also all your favourite regular features like Covered, Spotlight (where I play some tracks from a band you may have forgotten about - shame on you!) and Russian Roulette (where YOU can pick the songs).
As usual, if you want to get in touch to ask for a song or contribute to Russian Roulette or suggest a band for Covered or Spotlight, you can talk to me via the Contact page , on Twitter @wyrdwaysrock or on Facebook . If you become a Patreon Subscriber at patreon.com/metalscienceteacher you also get access to the Discord, you get the show at higher sound quality and earlier than anyone else AS WELL AS several exclusive subscriber-only bonus shows such as The Thrash Hour, The Power Hour and The Trad Metal Meltdown which are all the ideal length for your workout, commute or whatever else you need an concentrated burst of PROPER HEAVY METAL to get you through.
Anyway. Time to set your Mosh buffers to maximum and redline the Trash drives!

Hans Gruber has taken his fall off the top of the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles... so to quote Noddy Holder, "Iiiiiit's Chriiiiiistmaaaaaaas!"
I don't normally do Christmas shows, but since this hasn't been a normal year, I thought I'd try and break my speed record for recording, mixing and publishing, and what you've got here is the result: A somewhat half-baked edition of The Forge.
It's even more random than usual, since the links were literally right off the top of my head and done as quickly as possible.
Happy Christmas. I'm off to bed.

When I started The Wyrd Ways Rock Show, there was really nothing on the radio or TV covering Hard Rock and Metal. Since then, things have improved. with Primordial Radio (so good I bought part of the company!) getting the balance mostly right.
That said, they don't really do much with the Heavier end. Which is fair enough when you consider that Pete, their music co-ordinator isn't really into the PROPER Heavy stuff, and based on that, he doesn't really have the industry contacts in that area. Neither do Moose or Dewsbury, for the same reason. Shorty seems to be more into Pop Punk, so... you get the picture.
That's not a negative criticism, by the way, it's just the way things are. Plus, there's only so many hours in the day, so even if he was as immersed in this stuff as he would need to be, he wouldn't have the time. Obviously Primordial isn't the only Rock/Metal radio station, but it is the one with the least amount of Old Man Balls being played (you know what I mean - pretty much anything played on Planet Rock or Absolute Classic Rock). So since they've got a lot of the Rock and Mainstream stuff covered, I'm going heavier.
Basically, compare Download to Bloodstock. If they're going to be Download, I'll be Bloodstock.
So let's do it!

Let's try this again, shall we? Now the old mental health is not so bad (even though I am still... erm... unbusy, so if anyone's got any jobs going, let me know!), I thought it was time to resurrect this whole podcast thing. Believe it or not, this one's been brewing since March, so with a few tweaks, it's now ready.
Let's light 'em up.

Every Wednesday on Moose's breakfast show on Primordial Radio, he runs One Word Wednesday BIngo, where those listening attempt to guess some songs from single word clues. We do this to attempt to win the covetted Hive Mind badge. Someone else, chosen at random from the entries gets to pick the next week's tracks.
In the drivetime show, Dewsbury gives his own take, and more often than not gets a very low score (one point for the correct artist, one point for the correct song). Honestly, I don't normally do much better. Usually worse.
Anyway. if you fancy having a go at next week's, based on what you hear on this podcast, here's what you do:
1) Go to www.primordialradio.com
2) Sign up for a free trial - no credit card details needed, and you won't be charged.
3) On Tuesday, the link to the #OWWB entry form will be posted on the Primordial Radio website.
4) FIll it in an submit it before 9am on Wednesday.
